Welcome to The Top Stitch! I've been sewing for over 40 years with experience in tailoring, home decor, craft sewing and quilting. In 2007, I opened my shop offering sewing lessons, unique modern fabrics, Janome and Brother sewing machine sales and service. In that time I've taught over 900 customers to sew! Whether you are looking to learn to sew, improve your skills, interested in fashion sewing, quilting, machine embroidery or to just be inspired, The Top Stitch is your place.

Each month classes are offered on fit and fashion, based on the Palmer/Pletsch method of fit, machine embroidery, quilting and sewing techniques. A monthly sewing session for those with unfinished objects hiding in the closet! Get help hemming a skirt, repair a buttonhole or shorten some curtains. Beginner level. October 11 from 10-3pm, Cost: $10 per session
Develop and complete your unfinished projects or start new ones under the watchful eye of a well qualified expert. Get help with fitting your unique contours and coach your through the sewing process. Monthly session, September 27, October 10, 10-3pm, Cost: $30 per session
Love to sew but have problems with fitting? Learn from trained instructor how to alter patterns to fit you. This is a 4 week hands on class for intermediate level sewer. October 16, 23, 30 & November 6 from 4-6pm, Cost: $95 (Full) or November 26, December 3, 10, 17 from 10:30-12:30, Cost: $95
Enjoy this 3 week hands on series class. Learn techniques such as zipper installation, elastic applications, how to make buttonholes and more! October 8 & 15 from 4-6pm, Cost: $40 includes kit. Machines provided.
Improve your skills and build on what you’ve learned in Level I. Completion of Level I or equivalent experience. Hands on 4 week class series, October 3, 10, 17, & 24 from 4-6pm. Cost: $70 includes pattern and handouts. Machines provided.
Learn to sew or improve your skills in this 4 week hands on beginner class. September 30, October 7, 14 & 21 from 4-6pm Cost: $70 includes pattern and handouts. Machines provided.
Learn the basics and practical uses of a serger. Sergers will be provided in this class. All skills learned will be applicable to your home serger. Beginner – intermediate level. One session class October 9 from 4-6pm $29 per session.

My name is Carrie Jarvis. I’m owner and operater of The Top Stitch and I’ve been sewing for 45 years. From age 9-14 I mastered tailoring techniques and this now have my fashion/fit teacher training through the Palmer/Pletsch program.
